POPIA Notice

Last updated: September 2026

Hazel Glen Care is committed to complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) — especially given the sensitive, care-related information we’re often trusted with. This notice sets out, specifically, how we meet POPIA’s conditions for lawfully processing personal information. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we collect and why in more everyday terms.

Purpose of collection, and whether it’s voluntary

Each form on this site collects only what we need for that specific purpose — responding to an enquiry, assessing a job application, arranging facility staffing, or coordinating care. Providing this information is voluntary, but without certain details we may not be able to respond to your enquiry, process your application, or arrange care.

Special personal information

Health-related information about a person receiving care is “special personal information” under POPIA. We only collect it with consent, only to the extent needed to arrange safe and appropriate care, and we don’t use it for any other purpose.

Further processing & recipients

Information is only ever used for the purpose it was collected for, or a directly related purpose (for example, using your CV to consider you for a similar role). It’s shared only with the Hazel Glen Care staff involved in that placement, recruitment or care arrangement, and, where arranging care requires it, with the specific facility or family concerned.

Security safeguards

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep personal information secure, and to prevent its loss, unauthorised access, or unauthorised disclosure.

Information Officer

Hazel Glen Care has designated an Information Officer responsible for POPIA compliance and for handling requests about your personal information. You can contact the Information Officer at info@hazelglencare.com or +27 10 826 0799.

Your rights, and how to complain

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it’s processed. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled a request, you can lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator:
